This styled shoot at Vinterra has all the black-and-white wedding inspiration you need! I feel so fortunate to have photographed this shoot featuring the work of many talented Tulsa wedding vendors. It’s always fun to create just for beauty, especially when the team you’re working with is as thoughtful and creative as this one! Plus, styled shoots are great opportunities to inspire couples, show them what’s possible, and help them dream beyond a cookie-cutter wedding. I’m thrilled to share these images from our modern black-and-white wedding shoot!
Abbey of Embellished Weddings planned and designed this styled shoot so expertly. She intentionally sought out a team of Tulsa vendors whose previous work meshed well with the modern black-and-white theme of the shoot. The Inviting Place created all the paper goods for the day, and I had so much fun creating gorgeous flatlays with their work! They designed an invitation suite with an elegant script font on crisp white cardstock and tied everything up in a black satin bow. It was the perfect introduction to the day!
Our models wore black and white attire, with the bride modeling two sleek satin gowns from La Marieé Boutique. Her ceremony gown was a modern take on the mermaid silhouette, featuring fitted satin through the hips and a floaty tulle hem. Later, her reception dress featured a similar shape in a mini length with a flirty tulle ruffle!
The bride and groom posed for ceremony portraits before a beautiful wall covered in shelves of ivory flowers in black vases. This backdrop was such a unique idea conceived by Abbey, and Tony Foss Flowers executed it beautifully! Meanwhile, the bride carried a bouquet of white flowers that featured a mix of roses, dahlias, and orchids. The floral details had a fresh, contemporary feel that still felt classic, thanks to the black-and-white color palette!
White orchids adorned the couple’s three-tiered wedding cake by Sweet Devotion Cakery, which sat atop a glossy black cake stand. After posing for portraits, the couple celebrated their marriage with a champagne tower! I love how this tradition has come back in recent years, and recreating it for this styled shoot was so fun. The images are some of my favorites from the day!
To complete the ultimate black-and-white wedding inspiration from this styled shoot, Abbey rented a vintage black Rolls Royce from Tulsa Wedding Cars. It was the perfect backdrop for outdoor bridal portraits! The bride and groom posed in the front seat, and the black leather interior contrasted beautifully with the bride’s white gown. As a photographer, I hope this idea will catch on with more couples soon!
Photographing this black-and-white wedding shoot at Vinterra was an honor. I can’t thank Abbey enough for reaching out to me! If you’re just starting to plan your wedding, I hope this shoot inspires you. However, I encourage all brides to trust the vendors you’re hiring to create for YOU and not just recreate something you’ve seen before. Talk through what you like with them, and I promise that what they come up with will amaze you!
