Don’t be alarmed if you hear my husband and I singing Johnny Cash in public still or if we’re passed out in food comas from all of the amazing foods we consumed in Nashville…we’re still a little stuck in time!

One of our goals this year, was to plan and take all of the little trips that we could! This being our first year of marriage, we wanted to start things off with a boom! 😉

Between my shoots/weddings and my husband being in full-time ministry, it’s not so often we can pick up for two weeks and head to Mexico like most vacay’s. BUT, that doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy ourselves, soak up some sun, and explore a little!

It’s SO VITAL to take time with your spouse. I know I’m approaching only one year of marriage (June 5th y’all…IT’S COMING!) But, if I didn’t take time to getaway from e-mails and edits to enjoy my husband’s dorky jokes or desire to go LIVE on Facebook when we aren’t really that great at jokes..it still means the world and I believe it’s these little trips we will always look back on and cherish.

We decided to skip out on the hotel life and try out our first Airbnb and we absolutely loved our cozy little studio style apartment!

It was also in the PERFECT location in East Nashville – we never drove over 30 minutes anywhere!

One thing about Nashville y’all….they don’t play about food. EVERY PLACE WE ATE AT WAS SO AMAZING!

We kicked off our morning at Pinewood Social for a delicious breakfast. (I totally recommend the Egg Sandwich!)

After breakfast, we decided to head to Centennial Park in downtown and came across the Parthenon!

Little nerd-cool fact for you all, The Parthenon in Nashville is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. It was built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition! Sooooo, we thought this was crazy cool!

“The Athena Parthenos statue is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece. The statue of Athena Parthenos within is a reconstruction of the long-lost original to careful scholarly standards: she is cuirassed and helmeted, carries a shield on her left arm and a small 6-foot-high (1.8 m) statue of Nike (Victory) in her right palm, and stands 42 feet (13 m) high, gilt with more than 8 pounds (3.6 kg) of gold leaf; an equally colossal serpent rears its head between her and her shield.”

And after a brief history lesson, a walk in the park was necessary.

This park was SO pretty!

We tried to selfie with my big-girl camera…and this was the best we could do with my 35mm on! Haha!

Cheeeeese!

And then Micah played photographer for a moment…

Micah TRIED to tell me that there CAN BE too many photos of flowers, but I begged to differ then and still stand by that now as I edit and post these.

You can NEVER have too many flowers 🙂

Thank you random lady in the park for not knowing I took this…oops.

And then we strolled BACK into downtown Nashville, where we grabbed lunch at the ever so yummy Puckett’s!

I had a Fried Green Tomato BLT – go get one now and take me with you!

We needed a little break after ALL OF OUR WALKING – side note, I would like to state that I got over 13,000 steps this day and I am very proud of

this number 😉

Back to how good the food and treats are in Nashville….you MUST GET Jeni’s whenever you go (and remember, you’re bringing me along)

I got the coffee ice cream and it was AAAAAMAZING!

For breakfast one morning, we stumbled upon A Matter of Taste, which was one of the CUTEST places we ate at!

The weather was perfect, so we enjoyed our yummy food on the patio!

Biscuits and gravy, with a pretty fruit bowl on the side….YES PLEASE!

After more carbs, more walking was needed. So we got to go to The Country Music Hall of Fame!

This was definitely one of the coolest things we did! It was so amazing to see such history and meaning behind some of the

most popular songs and artists.

Across the street from the Hall of Fame, we couldn’t help but wander into the courtyard of the beautiful Nashville Symphony.

I love him!!!

Another day, another round of food and treats…right?

So when WE go to Nashville together (I can’t wait) we have to go back to Burger Up and order The Byrd…OOOOMG y’all.

Followed by a walk to  get popsicles at Las Paletas of course.

Micah stepped in again to be Mr. Photog…

Our short, SWEET, delicious trip was one for the books! I’m so grateful we made time for this and made it happen.

We will definitely be back!
