The Ballew Family in-home newborn session was such a treat to shoot. I captured the oldest son, Miles, newborn & first birthday photos. When they contacted me to capture their newest son, Isaac I was SO excited. There’s no greater compliment than being invited back in to capture your life’s most precious and memorable moments.

I love in-home newborn sessions because they are so relaxed and natural. I always encourage families to kick their shoes off, snuggle & just take in the new life and love around them.

Being a mama myself now, I cherish so much more each capture at sessions like this. I’m mindful of the little wrinkles on their hands, the smallness of those sweet toes, and just how much you really value a good photo of yourself and your new baby. Or in The Ballew’s case…your babies!

The two brothers had such an adorable dynamic to capture on camera! Isaac was sound asleep for most of the shoot, while Miles had fun in front of the camera! Miles’ little toy truck made an appearance of course! It’s easy as parents to stress about toddlers not cooperating for photos, but I believe you value your photos more when they’re true to the season of life you’re in. There was no need to hide his little toy truck — it’s one of his favorite toys & it will bring up a story later in life when he’s grown and looking back on these photos.

That is what I love most about photography. The ability to capture such a seemingly unimportant moment and be able to look back on it years later and have the memory come flooding back. That is exactly what I try to do with these in-home newborn sessions. This time with your newborn goes by in a blink of an eye. So being able to capture all of these moments in your day-to-day life for you to reflect back on later is so special.
