Riley and Brock’s backyard proposal was an absolutely beautiful moment to capture! After years of dating and going throughout high school, college, and long-distance together, Brock finally decided it was time to pop the question to Riley. Brock and his family had everything planned down to the last detail. He even built the cross which would be the focal point of the proposal ahead of time with his grandpa.

Leading up to the proposal, Brock had trees wrapped with memories of their love story thus far. The path led down to the spot at the lake where they had spent many moments together! He proposed at that special lake spot, and of course, she said yes!

Riley had no idea Brock was planning all of this! After trying to shake the shock and being unable to look away from her new accessory on her finger, the evening wasn’t over yet! The first thing Brock wanted to do after Riley said yes was walk her up to the porch and wash her feet. This sentimental moment was so moving to capture!

After this, we got some just engaged photos on the land. But again, the evening still wasn’t over. I said my fake goodbye, and I went ahead of the two to Brock’s parents’ home where a huge surprise party was planned so the celebrating could continue.

Surprise backyard proposal with family and friends

A home overflowing with eager parents, siblings, grandparents who traveled in, and friends from all of the important times of Riley and Brock’s life filled the living room to join in celebrating these two!

Being able to capture all of the pure joy was pure joy for me as well. This was one of those days where it felt like nothing else in the world mattered except the love and joy around us.

I’m so honored that I’ll be able to capture these two as they say I do next summer. This was only the proposal. Can you imagine how beautiful & special their wedding day will be? Stay tuned because I am so excited to share photos from their big day!
