Adam and Mariah’s original plan was to have a larger wedding in Southern California since that’s where they live. But COVID caused them to change their plans. They still wanted to get married rather than wait a whole year, so they started looking into different options. Since they both love the South, they would have done a destination wedding if they could have. Mariah in particular would have loved a big wedding there. Once, they realized they could do a smaller wedding, they decided on a Savannah elopement. They wanted elegant southern charm, and they got it!
The couple got married in Forsyth Park since it was an easy meeting point for everyone, and they wanted to have a big tree as their backdrop. They let beautiful Savannah and its charm be their décor for their wedding. Mariah’s father was their officiant since he was a pastor, and this made it easier. But it also made their ceremony so special!
Mariah’s favorite moment was unfortunately before I arrived, but it’s such a cute moment that I have to share it! Mariah got ready at the Airbnb where her parents were staying, and Adam and his family met them there before heading over to the Park. The Airbnb had a staircase on the inside and a beautiful front porch. So, Mariah waited on the stairs for Adam and came out to the porch for their first look. She says it was so special and the anticipation waiting to see him really kicked off the day.
Adam and Mariah love the streets, houses, trees, and moss in Savannah, and so, it was amazing to get pictures of them in so many different places. They did portraits around downtown Savannah, including the gorgeous Lafayette Square. The Square is the perfect spot for intimate portraits since the sunlight is always perfect! Not to mention, they got portraits at the iconic Olde Pink House, a must-go spot for everyone visiting Savannah! They really got to capture the magic of their Savannah elopement.
Mariah’s biggest piece of wedding planning advice is it’s okay to pivot. She says, “If we didn’t have to postpone our big wedding, we’d have never met Holly or gotten these incredible pictures. Postponing caused me to get the Southern wedding I wasn’t going to get otherwise.” It was so wonderful to be a part of Adam and Mariah’s Savannah elopement, and I would love to be a part of your day too!
